Using AI in Portrait Photography: How much magic is too much magic?

I recently had a conversation with a fellow photographer about Photoshop’s new AI editing features. We’re both relieved in its timesaving abilities, but it’s raised a lot of questions! Will new ease in creating perfection cause an even greater respect for film photography? Will raw, unedited photography be more sought after, or, is that already happening now? Will Adobe start charging extra for us to have access to its AI features? Should photographers charge extra to use our so-called “magic wand”? How much perfection is too much? Where do we draw the line in what we want to portray in our family photos and memory books to display in our homes and pass onto generations? Is any of this actually new, or is history just repeating ourselves if kings and queens of auld could commission painters to brush away less desired features?
